John 9:13–34

In Truth on Trial, we step into the courtroom of John chapter 9, where Jesus Christ is placed under investigation and the truth itself is put on trial. What begins as a miraculous healing quickly becomes a determined effort by religious leaders to discredit the evidence, silence the witnesses, and preserve their authority. As the Pharisees examine exhibits, question testimony, and intimidate those closest to the truth, this passage exposes how unbelief is often not rooted in a lack of evidence, but in a refusal to submit to what the evidence clearly reveals. This message challenges us to consider how we respond when truth confronts tradition, when obedience carries a cost, and when fear tempts us to remain silent.

In this sermon, we examine:

• The false charge that Jesus broke the Sabbath

• How religious tradition can distort God’s law

• The investigation into the healed man’s identity

• The fear that silenced the parents’ testimony

• The power of a simple, undeniable witness

• Why unbelief persists even when truth is undeniable

Through this passage, we are reminded that spiritual blindness is not cured by better arguments, but by the sovereign work of God. Our calling is not to manipulate outcomes, but to testify faithfully to what Christ has done and trust God to open eyes.
