In this message from our series The Unstoppable Church, we examine one of the most dramatic turning points in the history of Christianity: the conversion of Saul of Tarsus.
Saul was not indifferent to religion. He was passionate, educated, and deeply committed to his traditions. Yet despite his impressive credentials, he was spiritually blind and violently opposed to the followers of Jesus. Saul persecuted believers, imprisoned Christians, and approved of the death of Stephen.
But everything changed on the road to Damascus.
In a moment of divine interruption, Saul encountered the risen Christ. The man who once hunted Christians became the Apostle Paul, one of the greatest missionaries the world has ever known. This moment reshaped the future of the church and demonstrated a powerful truth: one encounter with Jesus can transform the fiercest enemy of the gospel into its greatest advocate.
In this sermon we explore:
• Saul’s religious passion and impressive credentials
• The ruthless persecution he launched against the early church
• The dramatic moment when Jesus confronted him on the road to Damascus
• Saul’s brokenness, conviction, and surrender before the Lord
• How God transforms a hardened heart into a surrendered servant
Saul began as a religious man who believed he was right, but he discovered that salvation is not found in tradition, reputation, or personal righteousness. True transformation begins when we encounter Jesus and surrender to His authority.
Before salvation Saul was religious, angry, violent, and blind. After meeting Christ, he became one of the most faithful witnesses the church has ever known.
The same Jesus who changed Saul’s life is still changing lives today.
Have you ever asked the question Saul asked that day?
“Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?”
One encounter with Jesus can change everything.
